Yes, go get your ticket! There are so many benefits to having your ham license that I could go on for days listing them. As for younger hams on the air, absolutely! As a matter of fact, My friend Don N6JRL and myself just took a group of young (11-16yrs) Hams to the Super station TI5N in Costa Rica. Most of those kids had their first HF contacts last weekend. We taught them how to work DX pile-ups and they all worked over 500 contacts each! They got enormous respect on the air from all over the world. They worked a total of over 3300 stations, with all 50 states and well over 100 countries in the log! These kids and thousands of young hams all over the world are Amateur Radios future. They now have friendships that will last a lifetime! And so will you....so go get your ticket, you will never regret it!
