Hi, this is my second post on this forum so go easy :). I am a frequent flyer on the radardetector.net forums and I am going to start playing around in these forums.

I live in collier county. I am looking for anyone from/around here who can give me general information on the local radio systems. In particular the police frequencies. I am COMPLETELY new to the scanner world. I have no background knowledge of them.

I am looking at the Pro-106 or the Pro-164 with an 800Mhz antenna. Here are my questions:

1) Is this a good choice scanner for my area?
2) Will both of these do trunking on the 800Mhz range?
3) Does anyone know if Collier County is going digital anytime soon?
4) I really want the upside of the Pro-106 without paying the huge price tag. Are there any alternates?

If anyone can answer any of these questions it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
- Steve

Collier County is still on Analog, and not going to digital anytime soon. Both of those radios will do the 800Mhz EDACS system that Collier County operates on, and based on the reviews I believe both of those radios are good choices.
