Well someone a couple of months ago said they saw a NPS Ranger around one of the Colonial Parks (Yorktown, Jamestown, etc) with what they thought was a new 800 MHz radio. Thought they might be sharing with JCC/York county.
Well that does not seem to be the case. HOWEVER, I have been hearing digital on the two 167 MHz NPS frequencies for the Colonial parks area. Not full time, seems to be testing.
So, my (un)educated guess is that the NPS did get new radios and they are digital, but they are not changing frequencies.
