I'm looking at getting a new scanner as my old realistic one from 1993 doesn't have trunking. I'm a bit weary about buying a scanner and not being able to listen to my towns frequencies. I've been told it is a P25 system and I need a digital scanner. Does anybody know if there are analog frequencies in the town of colonie?

The ONLY analog comms in Colonie are the paging channel (154.385) and Region 30 (853.9875). Everything else is now P-25 Digital.

Thanks. I was hoping it wasn't. I listen to the 154.85. Has some EMS and fire on it.
you're missing all the important stuff- all you're getting is the page outs on 154.385 and that's it. You'll become 500 dollars lighter in the pocket but if you really want to hear all the radio traffic in the town of Colonie then you'll need to upgrade your present scanner to a digital one like Kevin said
