State Radio System Still Not Complete

A communications network that the state promised to focus on after the Columbine High School shootings is only
about 65 percent complete because of budget cuts. The digital trunked radio system allows different
public safety agencies and different jurisdictions to communicate with each another, something which was a
problem following Columbine.
The system was supposed to be built by 2002, but state budget cuts
during the post-Sept. 11 recession has slowed the work on the system. Sen. Dan Grossman, the head
