Hi I have a pro-2096 and win96.
I need to know how or if I can scan the Springs and Denver, Bob if you read this I think you can help with this in the Springs. I looked at the springs files in the DTRS and it didn't look like Police and fire.

Well, at the risk of being accused (again) by another member of these forums of having nothing useful to contribute here, I'll give you the following info.
Neither Denver or Colorado Springs are on the state DTRS system. Both are on their own systems. Denver is on an EDACS system which recently switched to "ESK", and your Pro-2096 will not work on an EDACS ESK system, so you're out of luck there.
As for Colorado Springs and El Paso County (all one big happy system), you'll need to go to this page: http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=2471 for our system info. Everything you need to program your scanner for the county and city is there.
Let me know if you need anything else.

No problem, and thanks for the info. It must be past my bedtime because I was looking in the wrong county when I first looked for the info and I found it shortly after I posted this.

Thanks a bunch.

Depending on where you are in Douglas County you might have a good shot at monitoring El Paso and Colorado Springs directly, I know folks in the Parker area routinely here Colorado Springs well.

The Stanley Canyon site does well up into the Larkspur/Castle Rock area.

I'm in Founders Village and I am having no problems. I have a clear line of site to Pikes Peak. Guys when you listen to State Patrol does it transmit tower to tower I am getting transmissions from Pueblo to Fort Collins or is it just clean skip.

That would all be well and good if there were towers on Pikes Peak, but there aren't.
What towers are you hearing State Patrol on? And what TG's are you hearing?
The state patrol office in Pueblo dispatches state patrol in El Paso, Pueblo, Fremont, Huerfano, Baca, Bent counties (all of southeastern Colorado, actually). You are probably hearing Pueblo District 2 on the Cheyenne Mtn DTRS site, which has a very large footprint.
And 800mhz isn't really prone to skip. You're just hearing whatever tg's are active on whatever sites you're close to.

Bob, sorry for not seeing your post much earlier. I am hitting mostly Site: 421,414,412, I am hitting most all of the TG's for EPSO, CSPD, and fire dispatches all over the county. Some are 04710,04584,04770,04578 etc.
I am going to put up an outside 800 RS rubber duck on the roof because I have tried deferent antenna and this works best for me on the top floor of the house and I have the scanner in a sub level when I scan the cable will be less then 10'- 20' long. If you don't think that will work just let me Know.

Site 412 is indeed the Stanley Canyon site (in the hills above the Air Force Academy) and as predicted, it works quite well north along the I-25 corridor. It carries a LOT the traffic for the city and county.

Thanks I am setting up more areas south of me because I got a RS800 and I am using my in house RG6 cable to get me to the roof and know I can hear anything from the springs to way north of denver. I just used some BNC to F couplers and I am supprised at how well everything is coming in. I have listened to scanamerica for a long time and decided to buy the pro2096 because it would go down when the wife was on call. I think it might be time to get the new RS scanner to scan Denver and Aurora.

I'm not sure what you didn't see....
The site is not a state site, you have to look in the database under El Paso County, and then under the trunked radio system. Everything you need is there.

Hearing Stanley Canyon in Loveland is unlikely. Also Stanley's 853.7125 CC freq is one of the Voice Channels for DTRS off of Horsetooth.

Prior to rebanding I could hear Stanley during good 800 DX conditions in S.E. Greeley however since rebanding nothing. The footprint into the metro area is contingent on terrain and is most likely heard in the Southern metro area and higher portions of the Northern Metro area such as Thornton and Northglenn.

In the future when their system is linked to DTRS it may be possible to hear some CSPD and EPSO activity off of Westcreek and other wide coverage sites near their area. For now though no.
