In Columbia County, Oregon, are any police/fire/emergency radios digital?? Or are they still analog ??

Looking for some local info before I purchase a high-quality scanner.

I see that the Sheriff's Office in your county does have an assigned talkgroup on the statewide system. You would get a more accurate answer as to whether or not that is used if you have your thread moved to your state forum.

To do that, click on the Report link in the lower left corner of your post & request that a moderator move your thread.

You really can't go wrong with a high end scanner. As time goes by, more and more agencies are shifting to P25
trunked systems, phase 1 and phase 2.
Such as SDS 200 will still cover analog systems and then some.
The only downside to new systems is many agencies like PSPC are incorporating encryption.

Update - I was not able to receive anything but the minimum (Uniden BCT-15X)

Finally sent it to Bearcat Wearhouse.. Found out that some widget had failed.
They did an exchange, and programmed it for neighboring counties.

What a change !! Now, I see what I have been missing.

Thanks to all for the advice !
