The new CAD system will be capable of it, but I doubt they'll enable that feature. Their calltakers are extremely busy if not overworked as it is (they're perpetually shorthanded to the point where they have to do mandatory overtime to keep the seats filled)....
They've been in that position for a very long time which is why it surprised me they would enable that feature. Leave it to the good ole media people to drop the ball.
Why would the CAD need to receive text messages? Isn't text RX ability dependant on the actual 911 infrastructure, which I don't think they're replacing?
