COMMERCE CITY – A police officer was taken to the hospital Monday night after he lost control of his patrol car, drove into a yard and crashed into a tree.
Witnesses say the officer had his lights on, but no siren, when he hit the tree head on in the 5400 block of Newport Street, which is near Quebec Street and 270.
The accident is under investigation but Commerce City Police says the officer was not seriously injured and is expected to be OK.
No one inside the home was injured.
The officer's name was not released.
