• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello,

I was wondering about a particular piece of equipment. The Motorola command star plus unit that is for sale on eBay right now for 925. This is what I want to accomplish.

I have 2 gm300 1 XTL 1500 1 cdm1250. They are all in my office with mics and power supplies kinda tacky. I would like to get this one console and run all the radios into my office closet and run the wires to the console. How do I make this console talk to my radios? I can do without the xtl1500 on the dispatch console but the gm300 s and the CDM 1250 is a must. Please tell me what additional equipment is required if any. Can a 25 pin plug be built and plugged into the console with direct wires to the back of the radios to activate the tx and Rx. Anyone with experience tell me how to build this system..

Thanks,

Scott

Hi Scott,
Each radio you would want to control with the console would need a tone remote adapter installed to it. Then a phone line, 2 or 4 wire depending on your needs, would need to be installed from each of the radio/tone remote adapters in the closet to the console on your desk. It's a pretty cool idea...I'm actually working on the same project and have considered the same console. I noticed it doesn't show a power supply, which may be costly to replace, and I'm not sure how many lines it really has.

A local control console would allow you to connect directly to the console, but these can be limited in features...not sure if you need channel steering or MDC1200. Good luck!
