I was wondering if there are cb channels used by specific groups (off-road, truckers, local groups, etc.) in NJ?
I just got a a cb installed in my car that I use to talk to students and teaching assistants at field sites around Mercer Co. and don't wont to interfere with others while using it.
thanks
Axel

Aside from the slang and garbage heard in the Newark area on CB radios, CB usage throughout the state of NJ is next to nothing. I once enjoyed programming the frequency for CB ch. 19 on my scanner while traveling on the highways and enjoyed hearing the truckers traveling near me converse with each other. Now, they can't seem to be bothered with it much. I'm curious to know how many full size rigs still have CBs installed in them? I'm not even sure if the State Police still actually monitor Ch. 9 for emergencies since the cell phone boom. So, Axel, my advice to you is to use the CB because you shouldn't be interfering with anyone at all.

Nope, the NJSP haven't monitored ch9 for decades, the antennas disassembled themselves and fell off the towers long ago. Just pick a quiet channel, you have 39 to choose from.

BTW Ben, I used to live at the top of Stanley near Burnet with a clear view from Manhattan to Raritan. What a fantastic radio location, I heard stations from Hartford to Philly on a ground plane.
