Comms on NLEEF

While traveling the Poughkeepsie area today, I picked up a comm on 155.475, National Law Enforcement Channel. It sounded like a Civil Air Patrol unit...they identified as "CAPXXXX" (I can't remember the numbers). They were advising whoever they were enroute to HPN, which is Westchester County Airport, and advising they needed refueling.

I can't remember ever hearing anything on NLEEF, much less CAP. Any ideas? Were they talking to Westchester County PD, maybe?

Depends on the area. Back in the old country, no one used it except for private duty jobs etc.

Out here where I am now, its used quite a bit for car/car stuff between different depts, all unoffically for the most part.

Most cops don't know that they have it or why its there.

I wonder if that CAP in the callsign really stood for Civil Air Patrol. Any CAP unit I've ever heard used the tactical callsign for their state, not CAP.
