Tonite I got out my radios, XHData D-109WB, Qodosen DX-286 and Tecsun PL-660, and did some listening with them on AM, FM and SW. An unscientific test, to say the least. I used some inexpensive JLabs (?) earbuds, the titanium model.
To my taste, the Qodosen* was a clear winner, sounding best for music and talk on AM, FM and SW. Second place is a tie between the XHData and the Tecsun.
Tonite was not good for reception, AM, FM and shortwave were all poor for DXing. So I think I’m gonna try again a different day, as I think the XHData and Tecsun weren’t always getting high quality signals on some of the stations I played.
*Surprisingly, although it is tiny, the Qodosen also sounds really good using the speaker. I’m curious how they managed to do that. The speaker must be tiny.
