I have read some about the psr-500 vs. the bcd396t. What I am finding is that it seems that people start arguing about diff. functions on the radio. I am going to be buying one of the two radios in the next week, but still unsure of which one I want. I like the size and ease of use of the Uniden, I am completely dumb to the way that the GRE's work. I would like to hear from owners of both and what their opinions are. My main concerns are the quality of the sound, digital decoding, and ease of use. Thanks for any and all help.

Well,I own both and digital decoding is horrible on the 396t here on the ky state police system .I know a lot of users of the 396 are as happy as i am with the psr 500.But it's easy to use once you learn it and thats not hard to do..I can sit my 396 and psr side by side and the psr catches 90% more on the ksp system with the stock antenna. And the digital decode is awsome on the 500 with the best sounding audio period.Hope this help's..

As you mentioned
"My main concerns are the quality of the sound, digital decoding, and ease of use"

The PSR-500 is hands down the radio for you......
Its the best sounding radio I have ever owned and by far the best digital decoding I have heard.
I think you will really enjoy the PSR-500....
