Hi All..I finally got my scanner online and working as it should.. http://www.keithmj.com/scan.html I am using SimpleCast and two ShoutCast accounts from http://www.wavestreaming.com/index.php?section=home&page=main to do this. I am also using at this time a PRO-96 that is on all the time and a BCT15 that is on when I am home as it is on a laptop. I would like to run these from my own computer but don't know what i really need. I can not use Procast as it doesn't support my scanners and want to keep using SimpleCast. Is there a tutorial that I could follow to set this up? I also didn't want to use a client but the same setup as I have on my website so anyone can just click and listen instead of downloading anything. Also if I do set these up on my home computer do I have to worry about hackers getting into my computer? How would you do this? Thanks for any info on this..Keithmj

Looking at what your host has set-up, it seems there is a way to embed a WMP link into your website so that listeners don't have to download a player (this is based on the assumption that all of your listeners have WMP installed on their computers and that their web browser is properly configured). These assumptions are easy to make, but if you want to reach the largest base possible, you must give careful consideration to what other configurations are possibly out there, like different operating systems such as Mac and Linux/unix. Also, different web browsers and people listening from work who may be limited in configuring their browser/computer in a certain fashion.

Your host can also provide you with different buttons that I suggest you use on your web page, so that different folks, if need be, can click on and increase the chances of listening to your feed. Please see here Section 2, #1. It says to log into your control panel thingy you have with them and I believe it will discuss how to set-up your web page to accommodate the largest number of users possible.

As far as security goes, you are using an outgoing connection to their server, so there should be no need to punch any holes in your firewall. You are no better or no worse protected from hackers than you were before you started (unless you did open some ports and haven't closed them yet).
