Left click highlight - right click copy

i know that but it won't let me highlight anything. idk what it is doing but it also won't let me turn up the volume on my speakers (from the toolbar option for sound) and it has a box around the volume bar that indicates how loud the volume is. and u know the little thing in between the right and left buttons on the mouse? it won't let me use that either. the little arrow thing shows up right when i click it but it just goes right away. (for like 0.25 seconds)

What kind of mouse do you have? By that I mean, some have software that allows you to customize the functions of the buttons.
Does someone else use your PC? If so, and you have a mouse that you can change functions on via software, they probably made some changes.
Can you left click normally to select other things? If not, the spring/switch under the left mouse button has failed.

Actually, in the Control Panel, settings on any mouse can be changed. Swap button functions for example.

Tru 'nuff, but, the software with some of 'em lets you get really creative. I used to be an admin for a couple hundred folks, had a few wise guys that thought it was really neat to change other people's PCs like this. I finally laid them all out and told them that having me waste time trying to fix their pranks wasn't a wise use of company resources.
