• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi,

I am looking to order a specific Comtelco item, but the two dealers with an online presence don't seem to stock it. If anyone has any recommendations for a ham-friendly dealer, I'd appreciate it.

Thank you,

Josh

Happy rfwiz customers

I've bought several comtelco antennas from rfwiz, they are reputable.

Was the antenna for HAM? A11331AS-X, you will be happier with the A1132 with the closed coil. A1532A is my favorite.

Thanks - I wound up with the A1531B, which is the closed coil. I have no need to transmit on 800 so the dual band will do the trick. These look very similar to the old Maxrad BMAXHAM. All of my shock springs from my old BMAXes are totally caked with road salt from about 10 years of use, so I figure I'm due for a fresh antenna.

Some of you mention purchasing from RFWiz...what was your experience? I placed an order last week - never received a confirmation email (and yes I checked my junk folders, etc; that is their excuse). I emailed them asking if they got the order (I paid via PayPal at checkout and the PayPal receipt was the only thing I had showing the order went though) and their response was basically that the antennas would be drop-shipped from the manufacturer because they don't keep them in stock. OK, that's nothing out in left field or anything.

I have accounts with UPS, FedEx, and USPS and anytime a shipment is being sent to my address I get an email telling me so. I've yet to receive anything.

The rfwiz website looked a bit outdated so all of this combined has made me wonder led me to doing a search and finding this thread. Just wondering if you all had the same or similar experiences or how it went? About how long did your order take to get to you?

And if someone from rfwiz sees this and gets upset, I'm sorry but it just seems you could do a little better job of making your website look at least from this millennium and also be more "we want your business" instead of the "don't call us, we are busy" tone that seems to exist. Maybe I'm just paranoid, I don't know!

And in keeping with Murphy's law or whatever it would be, I just received a notification of a packing coming to me via UPS from Whisco Component Engineering, which I assume is the antennas since I haven't ordered anything else. I guess since the whole ordering process was a little less than what I'm accustomed to I was nervous...but that was before I ran across this thread with a few suggesting ordering from rfwiz. Guess my nervousness was unwarranted! Sorry rfwiz!
