I'm up here this weekend in Jackson County and there is a pretty big concert going on right now. They keep mentioning WEM (Wisconsin Emergency Management?) UHF 2 as the go to. Nothing on UCALL/UTAC. Any ideas?

I am speculating that "WEM UHF 2" is either old nomenclature or their slang for one of the interop channels. It could be anything. Many non-radio savvy public safety personnel use the term "UHF" for anything other than their normal system (so it could be digital, trunked, etc.)

Try searching the closest WISCOM tower sites and see if any of the interop/tactical talkgroups pop up.

I would also put in all of these (including VHF) and take a listen

It is also a possibility that the channel/system they are using is low-power and you are too far away from the concert to hear them.

Good luck!

Or, they are using WEM UHF Channel 2 as stated, assuming it was heard correctly.

Pretty sure WISCOM has never once been referred to as UHF and if a UTAC was being used the users would be directed to such.

Any specifics on "WEM UHF Channel 2"?

Nothing listed in the database, WIFOG, etc... Everything listed for Wisconsin Emergency Management is VHF.

Its the nomenclature reported that is confusing. Traditionally WEM was 156.000 with I believe a 136.5 HZ tone. It is one of the state standard suite of interop channels

If you are referring to Ashley for the Arts, I was dispatching from the State WEM trailer. Law was using the trailers MARC 1 repeater and EMS was using the VTAC 36 repeater.

THX! A few weeks back one of the WI OEM 'Sites on Wheels" was being used in Kenosha Co. for Country Thunder with a VTAC repeater in operation. Glad to see these systems get used for planned events! Great real-world interop experience for the public safety personnel working the events.

On another note, a trusted source tells me that the mysterious WEM UHF channels are some of the national UHF MED frequencies that have been re-branded / re-named ;)
