The tower at the fire station off 601 in Concord used to have multiple microwave antennas on it. I assume they pointed to the different sites of the simulcast system. Recently, all but one have been removed. Any idea why that would have been done? I'm assuming the linking was upgraded to something that doesn't require microwave links?

I don't know in this specific instance, but many cities/counties have built their own fiber networks to link their various buildings for both communications and networking. It's more reliable than microwave and can be used for more connections.

That would make sense. A while back there were some crews burying fiber cables underground.
