When is a UID/RID list going to be started for CSP? I wanted to make use of the 25,000 Channels by adding a UID list to my BCD396XT.

I no longer travel regularly to CT as I once did. However, in the area I now live, the UID is not as useful as it might be because the "cars" are not assigned a single user and the on-the-air call sign is the badge # or ID of the driver on a particular shift. Therefore the UID while unique to the radio is not unigue to the officer's radio ID in most cases. Where I live we have only a few Agencies where the car is permanently assigned to an officer who 'parks' the mobile in his driveway when he if off duty.

I know that they switch radios. I'm sure dispatch doesn't though so you could just specify Dispatch or Unit on the scanner.

From what I have looked at for what troops I get the 6xxxx id's seem to be the dispatchers.

CSP troopers take their cars home to the best of my knowledge. It's part of the reason that the cars are pretty much unmarked and at least used to have removable light bars.

If [basing my thoughts as to how Mass SP do it] the Dispatcher is at a Console and not at a barracks with a Base Station, you will find a Unique Radio ID [per Console] assigned to each Talk Group.

ie: a Dispatch Center with 3 Consoles
Console 1, Console 2, Supervisor[3]
65123 65223 65323 all will be on TG 23
66124 65224 65324 all will be on TG 24
etc etc

a Base Station at a Barracks would be just like a Portable or a Cruiser with One Radio ID on any of the assigned TG's.

Best way is to log what TG's you see the radios on , for a good sample of time [month]

You were right about the 6xxxx UID's the cars are going to be more complicated as they can be any number.

Most Fleet/Network managers would issue a standard #

ie:
4xxxx for Portables
5xxxx for Cruisers
6xxxx for Base Stations/Consoles

I don't know about the 4xxxx and the 5xxxx as I am listening and also get 1xxxx, 4xxxx, 3xxxx, and 5xxxx. The 6xxxx does apply though.

Usually [YMMV] Radio ID's are issued in Banks, but then again as Scannists we can only speculate

I'm a former dispatcher at Troop I. Each troop has at least two main radio consoles and two back up radios. I forget how many positions are up at the Message Center at HQ, I think its 6 or 8 (If I remember I will check with my cousin who works up there). I believe the console radios are in the 6xxxx series but I am unsure.

Each trooper, Sargent, Master Sargent, LT, ect has a take home car (either a cruiser or a soft car). Each has a mobile radio and a portable and are programed with the trooper's badge number as well.

Its been 4 years since I dispatched there so a lot of things probably have changed since then.

Yes, there is no match between car radios and portables for the troopers. Each console has a different ID for each talkgroup they transmit on, so you can't always rely on that.

Izzy...the actual radio id is NOT what you saw on the screen. They are aliased by the console. For example 32166 would be in the radio, but the database see's 32166 and translates that to 345P that you saw on the screen. ID's not assigned or updated would just show the raw ID (ie 32166) on the display.

For CT, other than the consoles, 90% of the ID's are a crap shoot. Not worth trying to match up the IDs to people other than the consoles...and if you can't tell its the troop talking there are bigger issues at hand...

I did a little monitoring with unitrunker when they were doing the mass rebanding a while back. Here's a general summary of the radio ID's. There are a lot of breaks where there are either unused ID's or ID's that I can't get because they are used on sites I can't monitor from here:

1 - 99: usually associated with radio service
1000 - 1999: special unit/encrypted portables
3000 - 3160: special unit/encrypted mobiles
3184 - 3225: DMV mobiles (3184 = DMV dispatch)
3238 - 3280: special unit/encrypted mobiles
10000 - 10999: Trooper portables (some exceptions, some encrypted)
11061 - 18005: random things, "control stations", "logging recorders"
19000 - 19999: Trooper portables (some exceptions, some encrypted)
20000 - 20057: Troop I "constable" mobiles/portables (Prospect/Beacon Falls)
21330 - 21535: random things, "control stations", "logging recorders"
30000 - 31999: Trooper mobiles (some exceptions, some encrypted)

Definitely agree with you on the knowing when a dispatcher is talking. Just wanted to expand on the system. I guess it really doesn't matter...

I am going to print this list out as a reference. I know some of it may not be right but will still use it to a degree. How did you come up with a big list like this? Even if you did monitor, that is a lot of UID's to get and find what they go with.

When they did the rebanding, radio techs would call in and ask for the alias that the console showed. The radio tech at the NCC would give them the alias. I let UniTrunker record the data and had Scanner Recorder getting the audio then went through it all. There was tons of stuff that I missed because the "statewide" talkgroups aren't always carried on every zone. After they did the mass rebanding (they were also phasing in some of the new APX radios at the time) they have been adding more APX radios and also added more SPAN/Transit bases so there is still occasional traffic on one of the statewide talkgroups or SPAN where you will hear them giving the alias.
