Again, it's not for us to speculate what the radio might do, or not do until it actually appears. So many things can change between now & then. Let's all remain calm until the radio hits our shores in it's final form. While a photo of a prototype will show us what the radio might look like, until the final FW is written in the radio, the features can change.

I still sont know qhat the 7000 will look like. Im actually already sold on the 700, and have no use for the other digital modes. Yhose are just a plus and dont justify the extra money for me. No matter what time it is, when i send jerry an email, he answers back within 10 minutes or so. Thats a selling point for me.

For me, a radio that does P25, & Trbo would be great. But rather than be awake all night for the next 3-6 months, I'll just tell myself it doesn't exist until the final product [not prototype, but retail product] is in the USA for retail sale. Anyone remember the Wouxun KG-UV920R?

I apologize if this has already been covered...

Has the owner of Connect Systems considered making a dual band VHF/UHF radio? I know their target customers are Public Service which doesn't necessarily need dual band capability, but it sure would make them a stronger contender in the Amateur market.

The only reason I haven't already purchased one of their digital radios is that I'd really need dual band capability. I don't want to mount two radios in the car and carry two hand held radios.

A dual band radio would be considered in the future according to Jerry. I wouldn't expect it anytime soon though.

I'm a big fan of consolidation. I'd be more than happy to sell off my radios if CS can come up with a multiband multimode radio.

Jerry originally said he wouldn't do dual band as it sacrificed quality on both bands to get it. He's said recently as Tampabaynews stated that he may well do it in the future. Jerry stated he thinks it might be possible with some new tech that has come out to actually make a decent quality dual band radio.

He's trying to get the FW for the 700 and the finished product 7000 out along with next phases of each and it would be down the line for such if it occurs.

7000 sounds really interesting long term for multi-band use. The 700 monitor all capability will be fantastic and can't wait to see.

Jerry is very responsive and friendly to Amateur community and really tries to work with it. Also what company do you know where you call main number and he'll answer the phone himself a lot of times. Wonderful customer service which makes it a worthwhile product alone. Got a problem? He'll send you a new radio. Real good people at CSI.

Will they do mdc id, and is there an option to block out the data burst at the end of the transmission?

If Jerry follows through on something he promised, the capability will be there, even if it doesn't make it into the firmware at first.

No not yet. Its planned in the next few months from what he has said. I don't know about the DOS I believe its called but he is going to put MDC 1200 encode/decode in. Right now the focus is on a major firmware update to completely rewrite the firmware in the radio. Once that is done he says adding these other modifications will be easy.

Following.

Also wanted to post an up-to-date information for you all looking into this still.

CS7000

MULTI PROTOCOL SOFTWARE DEFINED RADIO

This radio is defined for the Amateur Market and will have an introductory price of $249. Capable of doing DMR, NXDN, dPMR, P25, ANALOG, D-STAR, AND FUSION Protocols. This radio is built to commercial strandards and will cover commercial frequencies. The first version will ship with Analog, DMR, and D-STAR protocols with future firmware updates allowing other protocols. Because of the current back-log of orders, we probably will not be able to ship new orders until March.

Expected Delivery is January 2015 or before.

Another article.
I do not know about you folks, but this is going to be one sweet toy! Better than the 436 IMO!

Well the 436HP and CS7000 are kind of different animals in terms of function. I like the 436HP. That said, I agree that the CS7000 will be one sweet toy. Am on the waiting list myself.

LOL, I know they are nowhere the same, but I think the CS7000 has much more in the way of offers for what it "could" do for the price compared to what the 436 does now being compared as a scanner only. I am going to use the 7K more as a scanner for local departments than for transmitting. So, this is why I mentioned the 436.

I'm just surprised that the 7K will be priced the way it is for the options and I would also like to know if this will cover the P25 Phase II aspect of P25. Cannot wait until this comes out to see all the reviews.

Don't get too excited about P25. As stated, it will be analog, DMR, and D-Star at first. I also wonder about additional costs for the additional formats, as most commercial formats have a licensing fee.

Does anyone know if the CS701 supports quick call 2 paging, can't see anything in the specs, pretty sure the mototrbo 6550 does it, just wondering if CS has the capability?

One costs >kilobuck while the other costs <$200: there are always going to be major differences in the feature set. As an owner of the latter, I can live with that, just like I have no problem turning the dial to get another repeater rather than having a Roaming feature to do it for me.
