Please excuse me if this appears to be a newbie question, but that's exactly what I am. I have a 50 foot length of cable with PL-259s on each end. I need to cut one of the connectors off to pass through a wall and I need to connect a BNC connector to the cut end for attaching to a scanner. I am looking for options, and any help would be appreciated.

What type/model of BNC connector will I need for RG8X, and should I go with screw on or a crimp style connector?

If a crimp style is the preferred type, can anyone suggest a make/model of crimping tool that will work for RG8X? Also, a Canadian source for the tool would be a bonus. I don't need anything professional grade as I don't foresee doing this type of work again.

Thanks for your time and input.

Order a clamp on male BNC connector to fit either LMR-240 or RG-8x. The crimping tool is way too expensive for a one time use. There should be may places in Canada to get one from or you can just try TESSCO.

Good luck :)

This is what i use and there are other manufactures like Paliden.

I am sorry if you think this is too much mony but you asked and that is
a lot for one use but in my experience you will never use it only once as
murphy usually see's to it that the one time you go to use it usually means
something goes wrong and you will most likely be back at it for some reason
sooner or later. I have almost the complete package except for the CATV dies.
