Connecting scanners to new computer

I have a BCT 15 and a BCD396 and i'm pretty sure the serial cables are identical. My question is this...does anyone know what serial to usb adapter I need to hook this to a computer running windows 7?? My other laptop running XP gave out and i can't seem to get my adapter to work with the new operating system. I'm pretty sure the software disc that came with the old cable just isn't compatible with the new OS. Has anyone else run into this problem when trying to use freescan with windows 7? Does anyone know what adapter/driver to use or where they can be found?? I have already installed a new version of freescan so i know it's compatible with 7. Any ideas??

Did you install the drivers ( if needed on the new PC & make sure the comports matched up?

I looked in the device manager and there isn't a listing for com ports...thats the first OS i've ever seen like that. they may be somewhere else...i'll look. also, I forgot to mention that this is the the new 64 bit windows 7, not the 32. I looked for a while and could not find a serial to usb with a driver cd that would support this...may be out of luck for a while, anyway. Has anyone else ran into this problem? I know so far i'm not impressed with this new system...seems to have alot of bugs.
