Hi All,
Been quite a while since I used my Pro 106 scanner....life keeps getting in the way :>) Was wondering what the current control channel for Metro Nashville PD is. Not getting anything, been told the control channel has changed. Any help will be appreciated. Hopefully I can remember how to change it, but first things first---current control channel is??? BTW: Have been searching radioreference for several days, but haven't had any luck getting the info.

THX,

The Control Channel plot thickens. I've checked both manuals I have (found them on the internet) and can't find how to change the control channel. I don't have any software to use, PC at home isn't reliable and I can't load software on work PC. I worked with my PRO 106 for an hour last night, just can't seem to get where I need to go. Any help would be much appreciated.

Here's the link to the Easier To Read Manual ETRM: 106/197. The RS manual can be found at RS 106 Manual (.pdf).

Hint:
Tower-specific control-channels belong in the TSYS you are trying to create/update.
Then you emter the correct TGRP, associate the TGRP to the correct TSYS, and assign the TGRP to a specific Scan List.
Then enable the ScanList to monitor the items in it.

Hope this helps,

Also note, the main system is an P25 LSM (Linear Simulcast Modulation) site for the Metro TRS, then there are 2 stand alone sites. Unless you are very close to one of the Simulcast's sites, you will experience Multipath Distortion, which is not the most pleasant of things. There will be no distortion on the MJ or other site as they are not part of the Simulcast. I would set up the MJ and other stand alone as seperate TSys objects, with the Simulcast as its own TSys.

Thanks for info. I worked with the scanner for quite a while last night. According to the manuals everything is ok. However, nothing but silence. The scanner was fine about a year ago, picked up Nashville without any problems. Checked frequencies and control channel, all are ok. May take it to RS see if they an help. This forums is great! Everyone has been very helpful!

Went to Radio Shack to seek advice about why my PRO106 won't pick up Metro Nashville PD anymore. Good News: I programmed it correctly--->Thanks to everyone on the forum for their help! Really BAD news; Metro is now P25-2 and the PRO 106 processor isn't fast enough to receive. Every now and then it may pick up something, but you won't be able to follow the conversation. May never pick up anything. Upgrade would cost around $300 which is too much as far as I'm concerned. RS manager told me I'd be better off buying another scanner.

Any suggestions about who I could contact to get a firm estimate about upgrading? If I'm lucky it won't be $300--maybe?

Any advice?

Shucks, now I want a new scanner :>) I appreciate the heads-up. I can still hear Hendersonville and Sumner County Sheriff. But, I'd certainly like to hear Metro, too.

Something is awry. I read this post and tuned in and found all usual Metro channels working normally on my 107.

Your question intrigued me so turned on my Pro 96 and it is receiving them well too. Suspect a programming error somewhere. First is to go to one of you Metro TG and stop, hit F2 (Says TSYS above it on the display) then analyze and see if you are getting a signal on the CC. Right now 857.0375 is the active Metro CC. If you do not have a signal on this either you are too far out or your radio has gone deaf. If you have a good signal then recommend you reprogram. I use Win500. But you can do it manually, just takes longer. Here is a good reference and is easy to follow.

I also was not picking up Metro on my GRE PSR 500, but OK now since I programmed in the control channel shown above, which I did not have in the radio before. Picking them up from Murfreesboro.

Many thanks to jimg and doctree2. I'll take the advice both of you offered and see if the CC is the problem. A real possiblity is a programming error since if to everything manually. Hope that's all it is.

Started poking around at other places on the Forum, found this:

St. Louis Area Trunked Emergency Radio - SLATER (P25) Project 25 Phase II St Louis Metro Area

P25 Phase II the 106 will not decode this type only P25 Phase I
The site list no P25 Phase II working yet but it has the ability to go to phase II and several are listed as E encripted. So they can go P25 Phase II anytime.

You will need the Uniden 436 or 536 or GRE PSR800 or the new Radioshack Pro-668
Before spending large sums of money I would watch the MO state forum here first.
********************************************************************************************************************
Substantiates what the manager at RS told me. Should have mentioned this much sooner, my 106 is at least 4 years old, so it won't receive P25-Phase II??? Maybe the processor is too old? I'll try reprogramming, check control channel, and hope for the best.

Many thanks to everyone's input. I'm a real novice and rely heavily on advice from this Forum.

no your scanner will NOT do anything with phase 2 tdma. I believe metro is not tdma at this moment and is fdma which your scanner should work fine for.

Nashville Metro IS still Phase I. I picked it up fine the last time I was there a couple months ago on my 106. Well as fine as I could with the simulcast distortion from time to time. Overall was able to hear most unencrypted transmissions. It's probably just a programming error, and once you check the CC you'll find your issue. I had the wrong CC at first, but once I got the right programming, it worked fine.

I'll check the CC this evening. Hopefully that's all it is.
