Hello. I searched the forum, but was unable to find anything relating to this question. Therefore i am asking it. :) I have a Uniden 785d scanner. I've been trying to find software to program it with for a few days. I stumbled upon Control Freq Jr just today. It is free, which is rare. If you do not know what i speak of, here is the link. http://www.freqofnature.com/index.php?m=Software&p=Control Freq Jr

What i need help with is programming talk groups. In the instructions it says:

When the scanner is in trunk tracking mode the Channel Program frame will be replaced by the Talkgroup Program frame and the Frequency combo list will be replaced by Talk Group combo list.

I can not for the life of me get this to come up. All the program does is leave the Channel Program frame there. It doesn't do anything. I've put the scanner in trunk tracking mode i think. That may be my problem. What i have been doing is simply selecting a trucked bank and setting it to id scan. I've tried it while its scanning as well as while i have it held on a specific talk group. I'm not sure what else i can do. Any ideas?

Thanks again!

Well, if you're using Control freq jr., you're using the wrong program. That one is set up for the 245/780 only; Control Freq 2.0 is set up for the Uniden digitals.

In any case, there's a much better program - get BuTel's ARC250 (which is sold via Scanner Master and advertised on this site). Much better support, too.

There's an extensive list of programs - some of which are set up for the Uniden digitals - right on this site. From the main page, hit 'downloads' then select 'trunktracker downloads'

Well... I am a poor college student that has no money. lol. So free is the best/only way to go. Thats why i choose this program. The program says its Control Freq Jr., however, the download page i downloaded from says its v2. So i'm not sure what the difference is. The link above states that it is for the 250/ 785d scanner. So i'm pretty sure its the right program.

I think the only thing in question is how to put the scanner into "trunktracking mode." Thanks!

Update:

I've been speaking to Tracy who i think wrote the program. There was apaperently a bug in the program preventing the Talkgroup Program frame from appearing. He fixed it and sent me the exe. The problem i have now is getting the ids programmed. I'm getting a run-time error now. I've emailed him back and hope to hear from him soon. Once we get this worked out, i would highly suggest this program to others. It was very easy to take my excel document with frequencies, alpha-tags, tones and other data and quickly upload them to the scanner. And all of this was free. :) Doesn't get much better than that. lol.
