Hi,

I usually get out to the Indianapolis Area about once a year. I used to live there and have friends I visit each year. Last year I had a 396T and had all the channels programmed. This year I have an HP-1, using ARC Patrol and Radio Reference I have created various Favorites Lists.

I noticed when I went to Putnam and Vigo Counties as well as in between, Hendricks, Clay, etc there was very little conventional traffic both on Fire and Police. I have programmed the Conventional Channels for the Indianapolis Area and surrounding Counties Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Shelby, Johnson and Morgan Counties, addtionally Putnam, Owen, Clay, Parke, Montgomery, Monroe & Vigo Counties.

I know that Hamilton County has their Trunked System and some Safe-T Traffic.

I am wondering if it's worth even having the conventional frequencies, are many agencies in Indiana, specifically in the areas I am talking about using conventional Channels?

I was kind of surprised to see thast Anderson is still a conventional system and had not joined the Safe-T System or Madison County's System, maybe that's in the works or has happened.

I will be glad to send someone what I have created if they have the HP-1 and use ARC Patrol. I suppose I could upload to the radio and download to Sentinel if necessary.

Thanks,

Ray

In Hendricks County, the old VHF county fire dispatch channel is still being used for the initial dispatch, but the rest of the fire traffic is on SAFE-T. Also, some of the police agencies are still using their old VHF channels for talk-around. The county highway department is still using VHF and installed a new VHF repeater last fall.

Here are the conventional fire channels around outside Marion County. Hendricks County 154.130, Boone County 154.250, Morgan County 154.370, Hamilton County/Johnson County 154.010, Hancock County 155.820, Tipton County 154.980, Madison County 155.070. Putnam County 154.385 Delaware County 154.190 . All of these are still used for paging of all runs in the counties that I have listed. Hope this helps you answer your question rjh.
