Conventional Programming

When programming a conventional system should the "input" frequency (input frequency to a repeater) be programmed in the radio? I am programming Louisville, KY's conventional system (Jefferson County) in my 396T using this site and am wondering if I should enter both or just the frequencies on the left side.

I know this is a novice question, but I would appreciate any advice/help that anyone can give. This scanner business can get confusing.

You would only enter the frequency 'on the left' (the repeater output). The exception to that would be for systems mobiles use the repeater input frequency in simplex mode as a talk-around channel. Dallas PD for one does that on occasion. Tx DPS uses the base frequency as a simplex channel for mobiles, which does not trigger the repeater. If you don't know if your agencies of interest do this, and you have the channel space, try programming the inputs. If nothing else, it will signal you that something is happening close by.
