Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Matt,
An interesting note on your gripe about the priorities. On a regular scan list (no P1 select) I had mine set up with 14 pri 3's, 1 pri 2, and 1 pri 1...But I the talkgroup I was selected to talkon was actually my priority 1, even without P1 select.

Hope that made sense
Chris

Ummmm I didn't think they had Provoice capable conventional yet.

Anyone care to point me to a conventional system in the US that uses PV for digital????

I know for 100% FACT that it Pro-Voice is available for conventional talkaround... My police Jaguar 700p scan model radio has analog/pro-voice talkgroups as well as analog/pro-voice conventional freqs. My county has (in addition to the NSPAC freq's) 6 conventional freqs programmed into every radio in the county. The freqs are named direct 1-6... on the police radios we have dirdig which is direct 5 in pro-voice mode... real fun to mess with firemen and tell them to go to direct 5 and I talk in pro-voice and they obviously only hear the digital noise.... gets me a good laugh every time.

Now thats just wrong on too many levels....LOL

The 800 MHz conventional freqs were never meant as a game playing system.... Those were set aside for conventional interop.... Anyway.. I still ask: What Conventional System uses Provoice Digital Modulation?

Show me a single conventional system in the USA that does so as its standard format.

Playing with your radio and a friend's is one thing.. SOP for a system is another.

The attached PDF should help you out...

I am trying to program my Jaguar 700p for conventional in provoice mode and am not having any luck. The radio is definitely provoice capable, as I am able to monitor provoice groups no problem, and have been for a long time. Now that I want to try a conventional provoice set I am running into roadblocks. What am I missing? The channel will show an activity indicator, but the squelch will not break.

You can program the LCN's of a ProVoice EDACS system and flag them as ProVoice enabled in conventional but when the channel is assigned you will hear nothing. This is because the header information of EDACS ProVoice is different from conventional ProVoice. In conventional the header contains a series of 69696969 (not sure how many) to indicate a digital signal and the receiver should unsquelch and listen. However, when trunking the EDACS signaling is used as the header and that is where the difference is, this is why the receiver will never open on an EDACS ProVoice call while listening to it conventionally, even with your radio programmed for ProVoice properly.

This is not correct. The data is simply inverted, and the RX Net ID needs to be set to the all call Net ID as defined in the documentation. Therefore, conventional personalities can be programmed to monitor ProVoice LCNs.

Quite right Lindsay, it works well.

Set "Digital Voice Options" to RX and TX Inverted
Set all LCN frequencies to "RX Address" 172

Now, theoretically, you can set an RX CG/DCG on each channel and scan hearing only the PV, skipping any disconnect tones. However, it seems that even with "Scan with CG" set that any carrier will open the squelch and stop scan... Any ideas on this?
