Hello All,

I am setting up a conventional system in my scanner (BCT-15) and I noticed that the police frequencies are conventional frequencies but the tone is set for 503 DPL. Question 1. Does this mean that the frequencies are conventional but digital? 2. Can I listen to these stations on my BCT-15 3. If I can't listen to on my BCT 15 then my next question is can I monitor these stations with a digital scanner?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

James

DPL is a common generic name for 'DCS' or Digital Coded Squelch. The BCT15 can handle this - it's simply another setting, very similar in function to setting a PL on a frequency. Our RR Glossary in the wiki has a somewhat more detailed definition (all links are in blue)

Get the heck out of here. I am glad I aksed and didn't run with my assumption. I didnt even program these type of frequencies into my system because I thought they were all digial and my BCT-15 would not handle.

Thanks alot for the information.

James
