Boatload of the new Duece and 1/2's, and some HUMVEE'S,

Came west on Warren County's Rt 620 (Waters Street) and approached the "Free Belvidere/Riverton Bridge" to be denied crossing due to bridge weight restrictions. That resulted in prolonged comms on 381.9 to redirect the convoy down Rt 620 (Greenwich St) to Warren County's Rt 519. SO, Was I listening to regular ARMY, or NATIONAL GUARD comms, and are there a NJ/Pennsy frequency lists available to upgrade my receivers??

I took the time to look at the street (on Google maps) approaching the bridge entrance. It's clearly marked twice with signs prohibiting anything larger than 8 tons. I know nothing at all about the weight of a deuce and a 1/2, but can they be more than 8 tons?? That seems pretty large.. anyway. The bridge itself looks tiny, it's two lane and I think I would have to duck to walk across it. It's so small the speed limit is 15 m.p.h. Logistical planning took a dive on that operation. Nice catch on that one. Take care

Tractor Trailers try to cross that bridge every day. There have been over 70 TT's that have been turned around this year alone. A couple people I know were in the area and saw all the military vehicles stacked up by the bridge.

Despite owning Ole School CRB Freq books, and other authors over the decades, as well as internet searches, I cannot locate a reliable source for Army National Guard freqs, except my 800 Mhz NJSP Analog Trunking freqs here on Rad Ref. AND with so much spectrum available for military usage, I was simply lucky yesterday to witness this traffic snafu and quickly crank up my PSR-800's Spectrum Sweeper and capture the freq and PL. SO, if someone has lists available to direct me to, I would be most grateful.

I think that it is a ISR Radio ( inter squad radio) that you were hearing??
the frequencies like yours don't conform to the regular ISR radio plan, some of mine don't also,
i have them programmed and scan them all the time as well as low band VHF, and uhf mil with the am and fm set to auto.
you never know??

381.9 isn't ISR.

The original 14 Icom Intra-Squad Radio channels were:

396.875
397.125
397.175
397.375
397.425
397.475
397.550
397.950
398.050
399.425
399.475
399.725
399.925
399.975

but a few years back several were taken away. I could not find which ones.

At the Super Bowl in Arlington TX several years ago there was a National Guard or Army repeater reported on 387.5125 / 397.5125 with PL 151.4.

i know that one is not ISR but the one's we were using had other 380-409 frequencies in them,
some simplex and some were FM repeaters.

My Army Wrecker (XM-816) weighed about 17.5 tons, the new LMTVs they were likely using weigh about 14 tons fully loaded.

Some lieutenant probably used google maps to plan their route.

And like a good convoy,

Everybody piled up behind the convoy leader as the bridge tender stopped them from proceeding. Thankfully, that bought me time to get my converted PSR-800/WS 1080 over to Spectrum Search mode, and score the frequency and PL. So, Who out here in "Rad Ref Land" knows who this was, Regular Army, or Army National Guard of NJ or Pennsy????

Were there markings on the vehicles? That may provide a clue.
We are getting into the time of year when Guard units are doing their annual training, so that would be a real good guess.

TOO BUSY,

Upon seeing the convoy, and the sporadic antennas on HUMVEE'S and a few Duece &1/2's, with both tan sand paint and some with green camo paint, I dove to my PSR-800/WS1080 to activate the Spectrum Searcher, knowing radio comms would occur as they were stopped by the NJ/Penn Joint Bridge Commission "Bridgetender" from crossing this tiny, lightweight bridge. In order to get to Rt 620 (Waters Street) into Belvidere they had to exit North or Southbound Route 46, and were headed into Pennsy, when they were stopped. SORRY, I did not get time to note markings.
