So I am wondering, how can the DMR conventional be patched to the P25 network (TACN)? Because its 2 different types of digital I didnt think they were compatible?
Ah alright gotcha. So is there like a way to link them on a scanner? Or is it just strictly radio techs?TACN Radio Techs do it all the time.
Dispatch Consoles are very capable of this.
You can just REDNECK to Radios together and make a Crossband Radio Patch Repeater. (These are the things you are taught as a Radio Tech).
ohhh lol okay thanksNo you take 2 way Radios NOT TOYS.
Are you asking how to listen to both on the same scanner?Ah alright gotcha. So is there like a way to link them on a scanner? Or is it just strictly radio techs?
yesAre you asking how to listen to both on the same scanner?
The DMR radio plugs into a gateway then take that radio and patch it with a p25 talkgroup on the console or another p25 radio on the console system. There you go, DMR talking across to p25 vice versa. A telex IP223/224 can also accomplish this linking the two radios together. Then you take your scanner and choose to listen to the DMR transmissions on whatever frequency or the P25 transmissions on the system you're monitoring. It works both ways as long as no encryption is involved. I live in Cookeville, they had their old DMR patched for a while when they switched to P25.Ah alright gotcha. So is there like a way to link them on a scanner? Or is it just strictly radio techs?
whistler trx1He's not asking how the patch works, even though he's asking how the patch works.
He wants to be able to monitor TACN and a DMR system as close to the same time as he can on a single appliance. I asked him to tell y'all what scanner he has so you guys can determine if it is possible, and then maybe the gist of how to accomplish it.
