anyone run a 200 ft wire for shortwave?

I have one now on my ham rig with a tuner. What do you need to know?
that would be close to 4.6 MHZ so you would hear best there.

Never 200 ft but many other lengths.

well I'm wondering if it's worth all the trouble? I have a 2 story house and am thinking of running it from the house to our own 60 ft telephone pole and hooking @ the top of the pole.I have to rent a man lift to get up there... just wondered if it's going to be worth all the trouble but hell that's what life is all about anyways....

Use antenna wire (Copper plated steel), not copper wire.

Copper is too soft. It will stretch and break.

I built antennas for years. Stopped when I built a Windom. 66' cut at 24'x42' and inserted a 4:1 TV balun for outdoor antenna. Feed with RG-59. Keep one end high but dont be stupid about it. Each leg (24 & 42) figure 1/8th - 1/4 - 1/2 - 5/8 etc all across the -0- to 30 mHz. I'm in SC and can hear a frog fart in Fargo on my Yeasu. 8800. Good Luck.
