I manually entered roughly 40 FM Simplex frequencies into EZ Scan for use on my TRX-1. Works great. No problem. I was definitely missing traffic without it previously.

I would like to copy/paste those same frequencies into Sentinel for my SDS100, and also into my HT using RT Systems Software.

This seems like it should be strait forward, but it is not. I feel like I may be missing something simple. No Copy Paste out of EZ Scan. What am I doing wrong?

Or If someone has a file for FM Simplex they would be willing to share, that should definitely work as well.

Any help here would be appreciated.

I could be mistaken, but I believe this has come up before, and the answer was that the EZ-Scan software does not allow copy/paste so that the database info could not be exported. However, Uniden's Sentinel does allow you to copy from a system & paste to a location other than within Sentinel.

@522 I can confirm that the keyboard copy & paste shortcuts don't work either, which I have seen works lots of times in software that purposefully don't have copy & paste in the right click menu. Bummer!

If you entered the frequencies manually, you should be able to export the data to a CSV file. Highlight the first frequency. Right click and select Export All Objects to CSV file. You should be able highlight a column one at a time and paste TGID and Alpha Tag into Sentinel. You will probably need to enter tone data manually. I entered all of my info manually also, so the database copyright is not a problem. In my case, it exported the data to an Excel CSV file.

Whistler and Uniden use different formats and options for channels. What you can do are to export channels from EZ-Scan to CSV and then read that file in excel, or the free Open Office Calc, and it will put each frequency and name tag in separate cells. You can only use frequency and text tag and perhaps modulation type as all the other settings are non campatible.

Read the file as comma delimited in excel and mark the whole frequency column and copy. Then paste into the first frequency line in Sentinel and it will automatically create rows for all frequencies. Then copy the text tag column and paste in the first line and it will match up with the frequencies.

What I do is keep my local "master database" in an Excel file. I have separate tabs where I can convert various "systems" into the format needed by a specific scanner (or more accurately the software I use to program it). EZ-Scan was more-or-less a "one-way" scenario where I was quite limited in being able to "export" stuff. But they did make some improvements between the first version I used and the latest.

I've actually tailored my Excel to match Sentinel, since that's the most capable scanner. One tab for conventional and one for each trunked system. Frequencies and TGs are separated as they require separate pastes. To export to a radio that uses WIN500, I first copied and pasted a sample from WIN500 so I could match the fields in Excel. It's not as automated as I'd like, but I don't update the GRE models as much.

To further explain my process; when I see an update on RR, I'll edit it into the Excel and highlight it. When I've made that edit in Sentinel, I'll change the highlight color. When I've made the change in WIN500, I'll remove the highlight.

Right Click only brings up the following:

When I right click on mine, the last 2 options are:
1. Export All Objects to CSV File
2. Export Selected Objects to CSV File
It may be that way because I imported an Excel CSV file to load frequencies. What is the version of your TRX-1 EZ-Scan software?

TRX-1 and EZ Scan are both updated with latest versions.

Still was unable to Right Click with any luck. Its ok, I Manually got everything entered into Sentinel and also put onto Excel.

Now I am struggling to get it onto RT Technologies software for my HT. Problem for another day.

Thanks all who helped.
