    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value.     The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

    This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Anybody on the site play with cordless phone radio ?, specifically digital.
Got some toys to play with, fascinated with the radio chip and processor. Looking at maybe shoving the radios to the digital ham bands and many of the digital modes. Looks like Motorola and V-tech are using very similar hardware, all covering 900 Mhz through 5.8 Ghz. A 4 watt PA might make for one cool 2 band SDR.
Only lacking datasheets for the hardware.

A Google search for DECT transceiver IC datasheets turned up quite a few results, but I doubt you will find much for any other variety - I may be wrong here though.

Since cordless phones are Part 15 devices, they aren't licensed by rule, thus any operation contrary to the device's certification would likely bring you afoul of the FCC's EB should your tinkering sufficiently bother anyone - mainly of concern being unintended harmonics, et cetera trashing the nearby 700/800/900 mhz public safety allocations, or less likely, other part 15 device users.

HP made some HP89xx system analyzers that tested DECT. They usually go for pretty cheap, though the DECT versions have advanced since.

I have a Panasonic DECT time division repeater for cordless phone I picked up new but not compatible with my older phones, something like that might be hackerable.

What datasheets I found don't come close to the digital devices I need and yea, any mods puts such radios into another part of FCC rules.
One could still modify a 900 Mhz device for ham frequencies then it would fall under my ham license. I have the equipment to see it comply s with FCC emissions. Not much interest in the DECT6 not being used on ham bands, but the GMSK makes for a good digital radio. Looks like I have to hack the brain for its frequency and band control. Those brains have a decent on board DSP and encoder/decoder.

I have too much HP/Agilent stuff now, not looking to add to it. The DECT repeaters are obsolete, BDAs have taken place. Have a couple of those also but wanting to mod the duplexers for 900 Mhz ham bands.
I think the older phones were analog, why the incompatability. DECT has changed a lot too.
