I am in Sun City and have one heck of a time hearing Corona PD. Funny because that city is not very far away compared to other things I hear just fine. I can sit here and listen to Simi Valley PD and stuff out of Los Angeles much better than Corona.

Funny thing is that I was in Victorville and could hear Corona PD just fine, so I know they've got a good signal. They must be directional or some item blocking their signal from me.

Anyone else from southern Riverside County able to hear them? And with what result?

Same problem with Murrieta PD, but I can attribute that to a large hill in my way. Solved that problem by placing a scanner in Murrieta and feeding the audio directly to me over the Internet.

Thanks.

Brandon,

Corona has a simulcast system with the hub site located on a hill at about 1600' You are probably blocked by the hills around Lake Matthews, which are higher than all of our sites.
Do you have the tone programmed? If so make sure it's 103.5 and not 94.8. We changed it several months back. Other than that, you are probably out of luck :(

Thanks for the info about their site.

I started to suspect thats what it was (those bloody hills to my west).

Copy That

If you are listening to Corona (or attempting to) on a scanner without pl tone capability, the tone wouldn't matter.

However Corona's Dispatch OUTPUT tone is in fact 94.8 (just verified right now by monitoring thier channel). FYI: Verified with 2 mobiles, 1 hand held and a tone reader!
The three radios were also set to decode only 94.8

Perhaps Corona may have changed their INPUT tone to 103.5, don't know. But even if they did it wouldn't affect the output frequency that you are attempting to monitor.

Antenna's make all the difference, but you're kind of in a hole where you are, and the mountain is certainly your problem. When you were in Victorville you were at a much higher elevation and no obstructions.

Good luck!
