Based on the pattern I'm seeing on talkgroups on the old (EDACS) system, that have been moved to (or duplicated on) the new Coastal Bend P25 system, the attached file may be the preliminary lineup of talkgroups. Of course, some of the existing EDACS TGIDs may be deleted (or repurposed), and possibly some additional ones added, but this may give you a head start.

I mostly agree but then they put Port Aransas PD on what should have been Harbor Police talkgroups….really threw us for a loop

Yep. But at least a starting point.

When the old Garland Mot Type II system, here in the DFW area, was replaced by the new P25 system (GMRS), you could calculate many of the P25 systems TGID (for the three original cities on the old system) by dividing the old Type II TGID by 16. That at least gave us a way to determine Garland PD talkgroups, which were encrypted on the new system, Of course, Mesquite also moved to the system as well, but i have not found any formula that consistently derives their new TGIDs. This is complicated by the fact that the Mesquite TGIDs (for public safety) are almost fully encrypted.

Currently using Pro96com program to monitor system. I can see the radio techs affiliating with different talk groups. So far when they switch to an active channel you hear traffic patched over from the EDACS system. Will have to see if they remain in clear after they transition off of EDACS. COM2 TG 20398 is the only active channel strictly on P25 with occasional tech traffic. With the exception of a few unknown TGs all have been in the format of 20000 plus the decimal TG number from the EDACS system.

I'm currently using a 436hp so should be able to pick it up, I guess we will just have to stay tuned to it and see if any voice will be heard, the pessimist in me says once they transition off EDACS they will go silent, but I sure hope that's not the case as I'm sure many of us in the area hope, it's one of the reasons I reconsidered moving to Victoria since they went silent.

Glad to hear, I can confirm hearing them on Shoreline but it’s 10 mins now and I haven’t heard anything I hear other TGs with no problem, could they indeed be transitioning? Otherwise I don’t know why I’m not picking them up I’m hearing Charlie dispatch calling Bravo units as well as Chsrie. Is that normal?

Ok I know I’m quoting myself but sine there is no way to add or edit I’m taking a chance not being resuculed. I finally heard Bravo and they were saying “back on” calling a Charlie unit something definitely adding up to a transition. My guess is they are probably testing the new one before they move to it. What’s odd is so far I haven’t heard a Bravo unit only Charlie, what is happening here?

Well a few of us are trying to figure out why the radios randomly jump to P25 and its usually for part of the day mainly patrol and mobile groups.... EDACS is still going full force at this time...And there has been a lot of testing going on...but it seemed to have slowed down... eventually we know it will be P25Phase2.

Looks like it may have something to do with some of the console patches/dynamic regroups - one afternoon last week Charlie and Bravo were patched on one of the dispatch consoles on EDACS and they were showing up on their P25 group sets ID's but also on a patch showing 65XXX, don't remember the number- when they dropped the EDACS patch the P25 side went away - have also seen on unitrunker sometimes a radio will affiliate on one of the groups on P25 and when it does it drags the audio from the EDACS group over to P25 - maybe a tech listening or somebody off-duty checking out the new sites - my hope is they fix the dispatch audio on P25, on my radios it sounds way over modulated and garbled

Where can I find the frequencies for the P25 setup? is it phase 2?

Just heard on Charle dispatch “Control 3 and 4” looks like they have been combined, also 4 Bravo quiet at the moment.
