Yeah, so as you can see, I'm new here. Been reading through RR for about a month or so; always had an interest in radio comms, got a huge kick out of the "funniest things you've heard on the scanner" thread, all that good stuff.

Now, a bit of searching is telling me that Corpus Christi is NOT yet a totally digital network, but of course, I could be very wrong about that / things could have changed since the post dates. So, quite simply, my question is: Is the +$300 difference in the PRO-96 worth it for use here in Corpus Christi, or would its analog little buddy suffice? Any general comments for a person new to the hobby here in South Texas?

Either scanner would work fine for your situation. It is important to remember that what little digital is used on the Corpus system is ProVoice, and no scanner, not even the 96, will do ProVoice.

The 96 does have some other important features, like v-scanners, etc that make the purchase worthwhile, especially if you do any traveling. And, since the Corpus NAS EDACS system is dead, they'll probably be going P25 soon, so a 96 would be good to have.

Veri,

I have a 94 and 95 and they both are great. Get the 800mhz antenna though. Send me a private message if you need help with the 95. I would be more than happy to meet with you and lend a hand. Check my profile and see if my e-mail is public, that is the best way to get a hold of me.
