Hello,
I am new to trunking.

I have a PRO-95 and was wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade to a pro 164???
I dont think I would use it anywhere, maybe Dallas 2 or 3 weekends a year when I go to the races.

I have never programmed trunking info before, I am attempting this tonight with Win95.

Thanks,
Any info I get will be helpful.

First off the PRO-95 should work OK in Corpus. I had one when they first came out. I have not used WIN 95 much.
It would be worth upgrading to the 164 for several reasons. I know that the WIN 97 software is easier to use. It has an auto import feature if you are a donating member here. I also had a problem every with the antenna on my 95. I had to send it back under warranty to get the connections at the main board re-soldered. After it was out of warranty I had to re-solder it a few times. Also the 95 does not support re-banding . The 95 does not do mil air. It will do 700 MHz trunking. We will eventually have a public safety 700 MHz system down here.
If you can afford it, go to the 164. It is just my 2 cents worth. I am definitely considering replacing my PRO-97’s when I can get the family’s Chief Financial Officer to approve the purchase.

All 700MHz trunking systems will be digital systems so it will not decode anything. If you're going to spend the money I'd look in to a digital scanner. A used one is about the price of a new analog scanner. It would take you a lot farther into the future than an analog scanner.

Thanks Larry,
I was a step away from clicking pay on the premium when I read that my pro-95 didn't support it.

Thanks for the comparisons between the two radios.

Would the pro164 pick up reception any better? my pro95 is static more than not. Its not real bad but still there.

Looking forward to being an active member here.

Thanks,
Matthew

Thanks Tecasemt13 for that Info.
I will look into this... is there a model number that I can start at?
I am green when it comes to radios and scanning.

Thanks,
Matthew
