I have my 1095 mounted in my car. Too many times now the SD card has become corrupted and the unit will not power up. I just brought the scanner into the house to program with a new county system. The programming went fine as well as the database update. When I went to power the unit up to confirm the new system was in the scanner, the unit will not power up.
I have been a GRE fan for years but this is getting ridiculous. There has got to be a better way.

I had a lot of trouble with the card a few weeks ago, turn out to be a knock-down-drag-out. I had to format the card out side of the scanner in an USB external card reader. After formatting the card, insert the card back into the scanner or keep the card in the external card reader and copy your configuration back to the card then insert the card into the scanner.

Now I am having a knock-down-drag-out trying to tune the digital of the scanner. I wish that I had never brought the WS1095, but I liked GRE scanners.

A knock-down-drag-out ... what? I always heard it as a knock-down-drag-out FIGHT.

knock-down-drag-out fight with this scanner what it was with the card and now trying to tune the digital.

I'll agree with that! Especially with this Midland City P25 phase 2 system. HP436/HP536 work like champs without outside antennas.

I never have gotten my Whistler built scanner to decode P25 as good as my Unidens (436, 536, 996P2)
My decode rate is 80% whistler and 99% uniden.

Here are my WS1095 settings.

DSPLevelAdapt at 80%
ADC Gain at 0%
DAC Gain at 0%

Texscan I am very adversed in fine tuning a scanner for almost 10 months I have made setting changes up or down + or - 1 through all possible settings and have never got the scanner any better one site 8 air miles and the other site 12 air miles full bars on a duck or a outside antenna ATT on or off makes no change it is the best it will get here at my location backed up by 2 other whistler built users. GRE built pro106 and pro197 pro18 runs circles around this scanner on P25 Phase 1

I did not do anything out of the ordinary and my 1095 card became corrupt.

The problem .. and it has been documented here on this forum, is that you shut off your ignition in your car and the odds of corrupting your card is high. The only solution .. shut off your scanner before your car. You will not corrupt your card if you do that. So ... it is totally user error.

In a computer if you unplug the power with out shutting the pc down first you will end up corrupting the hard drive and the os. The scanners Whistler and Uniden both look like the keepthe drive open and only close it on power down.

"Bu bu but I've been unplugging my PC for months and I've never corrupted a HD, so it's impossible for anyone else to have THAT issue..."

I am almost in the middle of two of the Phase II 5 tower simulcast system. The Phase I of another system sounds okay, but this new Phase II system is the real real problem.

You could be getting a power surge if your scanner is on first then starting the vehicle. make sure the scanner is off before starting the vehicle.

Jim where are you buying your SD cards from?
I use factory new Sandisk bought from Radioshack or Bestbuy in 4GB 8GB and 32GB. I have thought about the ebay cards but ended up thinking more of my data than that.

I do not have my WS1095 mobile.

I did recommend turning the scanner off befor starting and shuting off the vehicle.
