Fatal Crash – Three Killed
On December 4, 2008 at 1049 hours, Colorado State Patrol Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on County Road KK.7 at Aspen Street, in Costilla County, just north of the town of Blanca.
Investigation revealed a 1993 Dodge Ram pickup was westbound on County Road KK.7. It failed to yield the right of way to a 1973 Ford F350 pickup, which was southbound on Aspen Street. The front of the Ford collided with the passenger side of the Dodge. Both vehicles came to rest off the south side of the road.
The driver of the Ford and a female passenger in the Dodge were killed upon impact. The driver of the Dodge was transported to the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center in Alamosa where he was pronounced dead.
No names are being released at this time until next of kin have been notified. Weather was not a factor. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor. Investigation continues by the Colorado State Patrol.
