Lots of traffic this evening on the COTHEN ALE net between FSE and LB1. When they do link up and go to USB, its 100% encrypted short traffic.

I have an ALE database with over 500 ID's, but these 2 aren't in there. Anybody have an idea as to who these players are?

A couple more new ones heard today are DBC, VMJ, and 99L. I think the 99L may be a USCG MH-65.

Last year I logged an ALE link between FSE and MR5. When they came up in USB voice FSE identified as Service Center. Then both stations went into DVP-200 comms. As for LB1, I have no idea. The data heard following FSE and LB1 handshakes is MIL-STD-188-110A. Last time I checked it was non-encrypted and gave lat/long in Iowa.

There was quite a bit of traffic between FSE and LB1, so it makes sense that it was some kind of service center. Thanks for the info. The traffic heard after the handshake was like white noise, is that MIL-STD-188-110A?
