I was thinking, my brother and others is always messing with my scanners. (While I'm away)
I have had programming changes done while I was away. No big deal, i just reload what i had from my software to put it back to normal. Enough rambling.
I would find it beneficial at powerup to have to enter a 4 or 5 digit PIN (personal identification number) to access the scanner. This way no one could "mess" with your scanner. Also it would be a great theft deterent. The scanner would do absolutley nothing (besides light, and power) until you enter the four digit code.
This feature could be turned on and off in the settings menu, for those who do not want use the PIN feature.
There would be absolutley no bypass to this PIN, so if you forget it youre SOL. If there was a secret byp**** this would not make a thief at least think twice before swiping your $500.00+ scanner.
Or even you could register your PIN at Uniden's website with a secret answer to a common question (whats your pets name? Mothers maiden name?) to access your PIN just in case youve forgot. When you answer the question Uniden will E-mail you your PIN.
You could change your PIN, but you have to change it at Uniden's site also, or else you'll have a $500 paper weight.
I'm sorry if this idea has been presented before, probably has. But I personally would LOVE a security feature like this. I realize that UPman would probably have a bunch of bone heads that lost their PIN, thats why it would never fly.
But a scanaholic can dream can't he???
