I am new to the digital scanning. I was planning to buy a BC796D that has the APEX 25 card already in it. My question is will I be able to recieve the tranmission from the City of Fort Wayne Indiana. I,m not sure what type of system they have but, I do know they are digital. Also is this scanner a easy one to operate. Thank you

It's APCO 25, and yes, you'll hear Fort Wayne/Allen County just fine.
Indiana State Police is also digital, on the statewide SAFE-T digital system. Noble County, to the North, is also going digital on SAFE-T...

Very Easy to Program..

However, I would reccomend the Radio Shack pro-96 over the 796D. Much better audio for listening to digital. Keep watching RS or check the classifieds here or even Ebay to catch a good deal on one.

I also prefer the PRO-96

I also have a pro-96 and love it. Very easy to program. I use the Win96 software which makes it even easier. I plan on getting the pro-2096 when it comes out.

I guess the Pro96 is the way to go. What in your mind is a good deal on a Pro 96 and by the way is that 2096 coming out soon?

The 2096 will be out somewhere between Christmas and sometime in January. There have been varying rumors on when to expect it on the shelves.

The Pro96 retails for $500. I guess anything lower then that is considered a good deal. Look for sales around the holidays. Also try ebay for used models.
