With the use of cellphone and text technology, is there alot of activity on Radio Frequencies at County Fairs and Festivals? One just occurred in Clinton County and I didn't capture much of anything. Two fairs coming up which are larger scale are Grange Fair (Centre County) and the Bloomsburg Fair (Columbia County.) Thanks in advance for any input.

Really depends on the festival & who is there. Check Common Itinerant and Business frequencies, I have a FL in my scanners containing them. Also be familiar with the radio rental shop systems around area where said fairs takes place (a la Industrial Electronics) Wouldn't hurt to scan these for unidentified itinerant users when events occur. Be sure your receiver(s) support(s) DMR & NXDN as well so you can cover all bases

Yes there is.... despite cellphone and text--- that is really a 1:1 style setup... if u need all security to move ASAP to point X in the fairgrounds.... I'd rather people all get the message at the same time rather than spread across several minutes....

Fayette County Fair-
Fair staff--- 2 way radios
Security staff--- 2 way radios
EMS Staff--- 2 way radios (both on County radio system and Fair comms)

Midway carnival stuff... saw lots of radios on the Carnies as well....

And considering the typical fair here paralyzes all cell towers that hit the fair grounds.... Radio is the better/best option.
Each fairground and fair will most likely be different.

I provided a list of active freqs from last year's Bloomsburg Fair; they were pretty busy. Look under Columbia Co. attractions.

If this police/or ems, check tactical channels. During Passaic County fair in NJ(I know different state), Passaic County Sheriff(PCSO) use a TG typically only 1 away from their main dispatch.
