Happy Trails Golf Course (Surprise, AZ) While this is FRS Ch 4 and a common use for these channels it is readily apparent that they are using higher-power radios. I was able to hear it from almost 15 miles west and about 10 miles east along Bell Road.

Some sort of commercial or industrial operation, heard from the City of Maricopa area. It could be the Freeport McMoRan mine at Morenci (they are licensed on it) but it was pretty strong for a 150 mile trip like that. It was hard to tell if it was a repeater or not, there was no discernible squelch tail but both sides had the identical signal strength.

Wouldn't surprise me if they are using high powered on frs. Seems to be more common mostly with the prep types and using repeaters though reversing the input and output for make shift repeaters.

Seen more using baofengs on frs using high power as well as commercial gear on frs whom aren't licensed for gmrs.

Possible tropo event.

Morenci uses UHF TRBO for all internal communications. The only possible exception I am aware of is the on-site railroad.
