• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I have a couple of wires off of my Courier BTM-4 desk mic for my Courier Centurion , I rigged up a quick wire dipole antenna and keyed it up but no audio , I unscrewed the shield cover to reveal the white wire is off ... there are 3 wires that I can see , a white , red, and ground.. is there a black in there too ? and where do these wires hook up to ?

I don't have an original mic, but the pinout on the stock mic and 1/4" stereo type phone plug should be the tip is the audio and probably white. First ring is PTT and probably red. Shank ring should be ground and most likely black. If there is a shield, it's connected to this too. The centurion is 3 wire relay switched, so their should be no need for audio switching or a spdt pair on the ptt/audio contacts.

The mic according to the schematic is not switched from open to closed during transmit although it shows a switch contact on the stock mic, the pins are jumped, therefore direct. This is for the PLL40, but should be exactly the same as the 23 channel centurions and the 40D since they all used the same mic wiring.

I have no schematic for their power mic, but it would be exactly the same.

I just caught your profile and noticed you're hailing from the north and new here. Welcome aboard.

You didn't mention if yours is the 23 channel model or the latter 40PLL & 40D.

Have a happy new year as well.

Yes I am haha , thankyou very much and a happy new year to you and yours ! it's just a 23 channel, I'm thinking of using it as a conversation peice that or sell it outright but I'de like to have it working .because I know when I get a setup running I'm gonna have the mashed potatos but missing the roast beef and gravy so to say because I'll be missing the other and extra channels.
