I plan to walk the streets close to McCormick Place, Chicago and monitor frequencies during the G8 NATO Summit 2012. I'm considering purchasing this backpack. I figure it'll allow me to covertly carry three portable radios and spare batteries. When lead starts to fly, I can rapidly deploy personal body armor protection and conveniently change battery packs.

Be sure to watch the last few seconds of the video to see how fast deployment is.

That video portrayed nothing more than a daydream - turned - gadget.
It Gives NO protection against rounds fired at the abdomen, ribs or lower spine area!
THIS is NOT ballistic armor and should not be mistaken as such!! If someone wears this as ballistic body armor in a situation where someone may fire on you, you would more than likely DIE!

Yup, I'm going into the G-8 red hot zone. From now on, let's only refer to it in coded mode - G-Spot. I'm doing it in the name of the hobby.

I will intercept and log every domestic/international military and federal radio frequency being radiated within one mile of where I stand. Can't do that with a smart phone. Got to get close and be UC.

I'd carry my HP spectrum analyzer, but it's big and hard on batteries.

Too bad most of the feds will be encrypted but a little of them wont. I wonder how all the international security agencies are going to use their systems here or if they don't what will they use.

Interesting Timing on This Post

Kinda interesting this shows up on RR today, after this post last night;

Second City Cop: Ares Armor Backpack

Anyone considering this, best of luck 2 ya!

I am pretty sure Radioman911 will have a good chunk of action patched from the hancock feed, and you can listen from the comfort of your own home instead.

I suspect that all Fed LE related traffic will be encrypted.

Cities CMD and TAC systems should be heavy with encrypted traffic as they are now, very rarely in the clear. 170.7250 will probably be active too since it went P25 and has been busy.

It's going to be interesting to listen to all the freqs. from the comfort of home and watching TV coverage!

.....Don't forget your REAL body armor, and your glock26 with 4 mag pak.
All the other crap would just be dead weight to slow you down.

THIS is real no BS body armor,
