I am looking for frequencies for:

- Cowlitz County Public Works
- Washington DOT
- Cascade Natural Gas
- Cowlitz County PUD
- Three Rivers Regional Wastewater Authority

I am attempting to be prepared in case of occurrences . . . . .

I got that . . .road crews and PUD . . . but it seems that they have gone to different frequencies now, and I am still looking for the remainder

County public works went cellular radio
DOT went digital simulcast
PUD also went cellular radio
Cascade NG uses NXDn
three rivers treatment if my memory serves correctly, they went nxdn
I have heard Cowlitz PW talking all day through their 151.085 156.7 repeater.
DOT isn’t simulcast in Cowlitz County, some in Puget Sound.
Cascade Natural Gas was MotoTrbo a few years ago, not sure if that changed?
not sure about other two?

Public works is in the process of eliminating their system due to going cellular radio, these systems dont go off air overnight. it will take probably a week or two. Also, DOT is absolutely simulcast. Any system that uses Talkgroups on a simulcast network is a simulcast system. CNG changed to nxdn awhile back, I ended up being able to check up on that with a friend of mine who works there.

Ok we will see if they switch to a cellular based system, there are a lot of cellular dead zones in Cowlitz County. If they they do, I wish them the best.

In regards to WSDOT the picture you shared is Signal Peak, not a simulcast but whatever Harris/Tait calls their trunked non-simulcast sites. Just because your site tag says simulcast doesn’t make it so, it could say Walt Disney World. Yes WSDOT has a simulcast cell around Seattle, but every WSDOT trunked site in SW Washington has their own individual frequencies. Simulcast is the same frequency transmitting from multiple sites with synchronizaction and timing to reduce distortion, it can be deployed on a conventional or trunked system. Usually it is combined with multiple site receivers as well and voters to provide the best incoming signal into the system.

read this, it explains what simulcast is better than I can.

in regards to Cascade Natural Gas it’s certainly possible they switched. I never heard them use radios very much.

respectfully, i know what simulcast is, Also, Yeah the CNG radio system is used, but its moreso quiet 95% of the time ha. sometimes i have called it a waste to have spent the money they did on it. One guy i know who works for cng told me they use their phones far more than their radios, but radio use happens more when phones dont have great reception.

I haven't come across them on their licensed frequencies, they used to be on silk...
Per my DSD log, last time I saw talkgroup 432 KWRL talkgroup active was 11/9/23. Not that I sit on there on Silke super often, I would have thought it they were still using it I would have seen them active in the last 2 years. Unless they switched to private calls, seems like there is a bunch of private calls bus comms on Silke, I know a lot of it is VSD, but noticing a bunch of 26xxx calls lately but I think it's buses in Multnomah County. I lock out most of the bus/school/transit/security/towing stuff, not much else on there besides that.
