• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi all,

I have a CP200d that is the analog version and recently thought about getting the digital upgrade for it. There is just one problem. After the upgrade you are supposed to upgrade the firmware and the radio already has 1.1.30 so there is nothing to upgrade to. As far as I know there is nothing newer than 1.1.30 right? So theoretically, until Moto comes out with a new firmware for the radio I am stuck with analog only right?

Thanks

I thought you had to update the firmware after you upgrade the feature?

I read on the forum that a member upgraded the firmware before the feature and was stuck with an analog CP200d. I guess that's not the case?

That is not the case, add the digital entitlement and you will be fine. No Firmware bump is needed when adding entitlements.

Got it. So pretty much you just have to update the firmware because R1.1.01 doesn't support digital. Thanks guys

CP200d's sold as analog only have an analog only firmware on them. The firmware has to be upgraded if you purchase the EID for digital to unlock digital function.

Right, register then activate the EID, followed by updating the firmware, even if that means the exact same package the radio is already on. I've changed several hundred CP200ds from analog to digital with very few issues.

Same process on the CM200d and CM300d.

Precisely. Also, any saved analog only codeplugs are no longer compatible with your digital radio now.

Hello I need a little help I have been tearing out my hair for the past couple days I have this CP200D that I got the digital entitlement, Activated it and now it wont let me write to the radio its asking me to upgrade the radio firmware.. I have no idea where to get this file at. When I try and update it says I do not have the package.

Info: CPS V16 build 823

This is what it shows under details
Firmware: Analog (Even though I see DMR on the left hand selection)
version: R01.01.01
codeplug: 07.07.08
boot: R02.40.00

Is there anyone that can provide me a file or direction of where in the world to get the update?

Thank you

In MOL go to the Resource Center then Software >Two-Way > MOTOTRBO > Conventional - Firmware and there will be an option for MOTOTRBO Digital Firmware for SL, CP, and CM radios. You'll need to install the portable light package.
