To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello all, I have got a CP200d Mototrbo radio. I tried to program a personality with a Pre-MDC personality but the radio won't transmit the ID. Seems like the radio isn't transmitting in time or something. Not quite sure. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance, Zac

You setup the MDC , but did you assign it the MDC to transmit with the channel you're trying to talk on?

Not really much to it. in MDC, set the PTT to pre, which it sounds like you did. The only thing I can think of is you need to set the signaling system in the channel, make sure you set it on the TX side. There are drop downs for TX and RX.

How do you know it is not transmitting it? Are you listening in CSQ to the channel? Is there no MDC wait beep? Is it not showing up on other radios? TT

I'm transmitting on a PL. The other radios get the ID but it's not audible. Yes, I am aware of the DOS on the receiving radios. I have one with DOS and one beside it without DOS and neither will hear the data burst and put it through the speaker.

So, it's working then? It's OK if you don't hear anything as long as the other radios are reliably decoding it, unless if I'm missing something with your last post.

Are you going through a repeater? It may be sending the MDC but, depending on receivers, voters and such, the pre time might not be set high enough. I think the default is 500ms. Bump it to 700ms?
